Langtang National Park

Langtang National park is the first-ever Himalayan National park of Nepal established 1976 A.D. It is the fourth protected area of Nepal. The total area of this National Park is 1710 and covers three districts Nuwakot, Rasuwa and Sindhpalchok of Nepal. It includes the highest peak of the area Mt. Langtang Lirung(7245m). You can get a glance at some other mountains like Sishapangma, Manaslu massif, Ganesh Himal and Jugal Himal. Several trekking trails cover the National Park. It provides you with both the short trek and long trek. It is one of the popular and easily accessible trekking regions of Nepal. It is near to the Kathmandu valley. It protects a large variety of flora and fauna. Rivers like deep gorge Bhotekoshi and Langtang Khola follows the path of the park. The area is covered with forests full of rhododendron, oak, maple and aldar. Some of the holy lakes like Gosainkunda, Parvatikunda, Bhairavkunda and Dudhkunda are the main attraction of the park. Gosainkunda Lake is very popular and sacred to Hindus. Thousands of pilgrims across the world visit this lake. The red panda is one of the rare animals you can see here. People stay in Ghoda Tabela village for several days to have a sight of this rare animal. Its existence symbolizes the balance in the ecosystem of this National Park. Other animals protected here are wild boar, Himalayan black bear, ghoral, grey langur monkey, leopard and more than 250 species of birds. This national park does not only protect nature but also has preserved the ancient cultures and traditions. You will get to know about the native Tamangs who follow ancient Tibetan culture. It is rich in cultural diversity. Tamang, Yolmo and Bhotia are some ethnic community residing in the territory of the park. They are believed to be originated from Tibet as it is closer to the northern border of Tibet. Their culture and tradition are related to the ancient Tibetan Buddhists culture called Bon. Even the geographical structures are somewhat similar to that of Tibet. The style of houses with wood carvings is identical to the Tibetan. They have a unique language, costumes, ornaments, rituals, etc. In the lower part of Langtang other castes like Brahmin, Chhetris, Gurungs, etc. are living. You get to know about diverse cultures and tradition of different castes. Monasteries, the stupa, gompas are all around the trails. The style of the houses, monasteries and gompa shows the craft skills of the local craftsmen. They are decorated with the traditional flags of local people. The people here are very humble, friendly and welcome their guests with their whole heart. In spite of being near to the Kathmandu valley, which is highly influenced by modernization, it is still unspoiled by such influencing factors. Though the area is lesser known to the people, it is gaining popularity after the earthquake of 2015 A.D. in Nepal. Several teahouses, lodges and homestay are available here. Accommodations are comfortable and local cuisines are available. Though you can visit this place in any season, autumn and spring is the best time to visit Langtang National park. You will never get to see such a beautiful landscape in Langtang with diversified cultures and traditions in any part of the world. Langtang National Park is one of the popular National Parks of Nepal. You can visit there with any means of transportation as it is very near to the Kathmandu valley. Trekking Routes in Langtang National Park

Langtang Valley is situated to the North of Kathmandu Valley. This trek falls under a short trek. The maximum altitude of this trek is almost above 4000m above sea level. It starts from Syabrubesi and ends with the Kyanjin Gompa (3870m).

Langtang-Gosainkunda-Helambu trek starts from Syabrubesi, which lies in the Northern part of Kathmandu Valley. It is one of the easily accessible trekking routes in Nepal.
